October 9, 2018:

Dr Rachel Pauls presented her latest findings about the low-FODMAP diet at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The study focuses on a representative sample of the US population.  1700 Americans were surveyed about their gastrointestinal symptoms, treatment strategies and food triggers as well as awareness and implementation of a low-FODMAP diet.  A notable 45% of those surveyed described bothersome GI symptoms daily.  Common triggers for symptoms included high-FODMAP foods, yet only 2% were following a low-FODMAP diet.   Increasing awareness and education about this key component of treatment would help improve the quality of life for millions of people.
